Surprise Guest

This morning I was out of the house early, all bright eyed, and bushy tailed, looking forward to attending an estate sale this morning.   Stopped at the Wawa for some iced tea, and the ole Pixe Mobile left me sitting.  Ran into my neighbor there, he tried to jump start it.  Nothing.

Thank goodness for AAA, that has got to be the best $45 I spend! The tow truck shows up, after I gave my garage a heads up that my car will be towed in, and in less than 5 minutes my car is running.  I thought it would be my starter, turns out, the connection was loose on the battery.  Gotta love an easy fix.

So what does this have to do with surprise guests?  Well, I had at least 2 men looking at my engine, and not one of them mentioned seeing this:
Now, admittedly, I don't know much about cars, however, I don't think this is supposed to be part of my engine!  Yes, it's a nest...I think a mouse nest.  I poked around with a stick and nothing poked back (thank goodness!).  So I removed as much as I can, and vacuumed the rest out.  I wonder how many of my neighbors saw me vacuuming my engine, and wondering what the crazy lady is doing?!

So, next time the car leaves you sit, and you suspect the battery,  be sure to check for loose connections, as well as corrosion at the battery terminals.  Gotta go now, and put my extra wrench in the car, just in case!

Have a fabulous day!

My Latest Obsession

Lately, I friend of mine has been calling me, waking me up really early, to go to yard sales and estate sales.  This is something I've really never done.  Well, I've done yard sales many years ago when I was looking to outfit my first apartment.  Estate sales are new to me.  So, of course I've got my eye out for treasures to well, create new Treasures!   I've made a couple good scores, but I think this is may favorite!  Come see my new obsession!  I have so much fun sorting through the thousands of buttons I've found!

Vintage Button Rings
I will be adding a few everyday in my Etsy shop!  Just click the link above and you will be taken to one of the rings!   They will also be for sale this weekend at Stoudtburg Village in Adamstown Pa.  I will be taking part in the Arts and Crafts Festival they are sponsoring June 28 and June 29.  If you are local, I hope to see you there!

Wishing you a fabulous and peace filled day!

My Woodland Walk

Yesterday was such a beautiful day, and I admit, I was feeling quite antsy, so I decided to take a walk at Nolde Forest.  Of course, my camera came along with me!  Here are a few things I found!

Virginia Cowslip

This was planted in a garden near the Sawmill Area.  I checked my handy dandy Peterson's Guide to Wildflowers, and this in a Virginia Cowslip.  It's a beautiful trumpet flower, and perhaps the prettiest find of the day!

Trumpet Honeysuckle
The honeysuckles were beginning to bloom, and the fragrance was absolutely heavenly!

Waterlily Buds?
These were found in the North Pond, quite odd looking, wouldn't you say?  They look like tiny green hippos!  I'm thinking perhaps they are waterlilies before they open, there was one nearby.  I'll have to go back soon and see what these become!  Stay tuned!
Mayapple flower

This a a Mayapple flower.  the top leaf is huge, and the flower is present under the leaf.   I was so happy I finally found these in flower!

Colorfulness

I woke up to this pretty Etsy Treasury...Colorfulness.  What a great way to wake up on a  gray day!

New Tourmaline Earrings!

I've finally done it...I have been wanting tourmaline for ages, finally bought it.  Then it sat.  For months.
These are one pair of earrings I've made, and listed them in my Etsy shop.  I hope you like them!

A little bit about tourmaline:  Tourmaline is found in a rainbow of colors.  Ancient legends say tourmaline has traveled along a rainbow picking up all the colors.

A Walk in the Woods

Yes, I finally got out for my little commune with nature!  Yeah!!  Now, my walk in the woods wasn't as extensive as Bill Bryson's, though, it was just as enjoyable!  I wasn't able to go to my little secret, out of the way spot; someone was already there.  :(   So I found another spot that I like to go to.  I went to the North Pond of Nolde Environmental Education Center.  We locals just call it Nolde Forest, in fact, I grew up on the other side of the next mountain over.  Anyway, I was a bit disappointed....usually when I go to the North Pond, there is usually a water snake sunning itself nearby, but not today.  Instead, I got pretty excited about finding a wildflower I've never seen!  From what I found in my field guide, it is a trout lily, very beautiful!  It's the yellow one in the collage.  There was also a field of skunk cabbage about as far as the eye could see!  I was hoping to catch them in flower, however, as I expected, it was too late.

Starting from top left and working my way around:  One of the trails near the North Pond, marsh blue violet, lichen and moss, my pretty trout lily?, and overturned tree, and a turtle (probably a snapper) sunning himself.

Oh, and yes, I did take off my Birkies, and felt the warm energy from the Earth!  I feel like a new woman!

I wish you a day full of peace, and love!

Ahhhh, Spring!

Thank goodness Spring has finally arrived!  Along with this spring, we've got a lot of wind, really a lot of wind, and rain.  I try to get out for a little stroll while the weather is nice.  I found these on the first day of Spring.

Aren't these snowdrops just gorgeous?!
There still isn't much green here in Eastern PA...as evidenced by my after Easter dinner walk with my nephew...

These treasures were found around my parents' property...a single clump of daffodils, johnny jump ups, and lots of deer tracks!  I love strolling around their property at the edge of the woods various times of the year, just to see what's sprouting!

What's up for today?  Since we are probably looking at rain for the next 3 days, I thought I would take a little walk at my local State Park,  see if there is access to my favorite little corner!  When I get back, I need to work on some new Treasures for some upcoming craft shows!  Two shows in 2 weeks!  I'm gonna be busy, so I'd better do my communing with nature while I can!  I'm hoping to be able to take my Birkies off and absorb some of Earth's energy!

Wishing you a day filled with peace and love!

Petite Wire Wrapped Stud Earrings

Some days I feel as though I just can't seem to get ahead... This seems to be the case with my little "dainties"  as they've been called...My little wire wrapped stud earrings.
Over the past week, I've been gathering all my earrings in preparation of show season, and found some little studs I forgot I had!  I've listed them in my Etsy shop, and will be adding more.
These earrings are perfect for those that love handmade, but don't wear dangle earrings, or just like to change it up now and then!
Here are a few of my favorites!  If there is a stone or crystal you would like but don't see in my shop, I'm just convo away!  You can contact me via my Etsy Shop, Pixe's Treasure Chest.

Pink Tourmaline

Pretty, sparkly, and rustic cut pink tourmaline stones are simply wrapped onto sterling silver. Delicate, simple, and rustic.

I've designed these earrings by forming a frame with sterling silver wire, and simply wrapping an oval pink tourmaline stone to it. A little decorative swirl adds the finishing touch! These natural tourmaline stones are oval in shape, with varying shades of pink throughout the stones. They have their own sparkle! These pink tourmaline earrings dangle gracefully from handmade sterling silver ear wires.

These earrings are 1-1/2 inches in length, and 1/2 inch wide.

A little bit about tourmaline: Pink tourmaline is the birthstone for October. Tourmaline is thought to aid in understanding oneself and others; promoting self confidence and eliminating fears.

Adventures with the "3 R's"

Wondering how the 3 R's relate to jewelry?  I'm not talking about reading, 'riting, and 'rithmetic.  I am, however, talking about Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. These Three R's are just as important in our world today as the other 3 R's.
This year I am focusing on reducing, reusing, and recycling, currently my focus is on Reducing, as in reducing my massive, out of control bead supply.  That translates into lots of jewelry.  As in one of a kind, and/or limited pieces.
Going through my stash, I found these glass beads, 2 of each and designed these earrings.  They can be found for sale in my Etsy shop.  I'm finding this is an easy way to increase my inventory, especially with show season starting!
Oh, and did I mention, the only sterling silver wire I purchase comes from recycled resources?
I'll continue to share my adventures with the 3 R's!

Aquamarine is Back at Pixe's Treasure Chest!

Copper Aquamarine Earrings Wire Wrapped Illusion Earrings E360
Aquamarine Copper Illusion Earrings

At the Berks Bead Bazaar, I scored some really pretty aquamarine round and oval beads.  I currently am offering these pretty aquamarine and copper Illusion Earrings for sale in my Etsy shop! Sterling silver coming soon!
Aquamarine is such a pretty shade of blue, and is the March's birthstone!

What makes these Illusion Earrings so special?  I design these earrings using one length of wire, so there is no extra tugging on the earlobe.  This is important to those of us, shall I say, have more mature ear piercings.  These really are the most comfortable earring you can wear!

Have a fabulous day!

Petite Picture Jasper Studs

Today, while I was working on my to-do list, one of the tasks at hand was organizing around the house.  I came across these little gems!  They are generally popular at art/craft shows, many people tell me brown earrings are difficult to find!
I think these may be the last pair I have, so I listed them in my Etsy shop!

I've wrapped 4mm picture jasper beads with sterling silver, and finished them with a swirl. These stud earrings are 5-6 mm in diameter. These earrings are tiny!
I find picture jasper to be a fascinating stone...there are bands of varying shades of brown and tan throughout the stone. Picture jasper is actually petrified mud, and no two stones are the same!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a fabulous day!
